Today, a webinar was held as part of the COASTLINE Horizon Europe Programme, specifically under the MSCA Staff Exchange project coordinated by Assistant Professor Apostolos Papakonstantinou. 

 

During the webinar, Dr. Athos Agapiou delivered a comprehensive presentation focusing on the application of earth observation technologies in the field of cultural heritage. He provided an insightful overview of how these technologies are being utilized, with particular emphasis on the European Copernicus programme. Dr. Agapiou’s presentation included a detailed literature overview, highlighting key research and advancements in the field. He also showcased practical examples of site detection and monitoring, demonstrating the effectiveness of earth observation in preserving and studying cultural heritage sites. 

 

In addition to the main presentation, the webinar also briefly touched upon the ENGINEER project, providing an outline of its objectives and current progress. This project, like COASTLINE, is part of the broader efforts under Horizon Europe to foster innovation and collaboration across various scientific disciplines. 

 

Overall, the webinar offered valuable insights into the intersection of technology and cultural heritage, underscoring the importance of interdisciplinary approaches in addressing contemporary challenges in heritage conservation and management.
