ENGINEER Project at the ISPRS Low-Cost 3D Conference
The ENGINEER Project of the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) had the honor of participating in the prestigious “ISPRS – Low Cost 3D Conference/Workshop” held in Brescia, Italy. This collaboration included esteemed contributions from Prof. Branka Čučak and Prof. Mattia Previtali of Politecnico di Milano.
A research paper titled “Low-cost photogrammetry solutions for surveying confined underground spaces: testing the traditional set-up against 360° camera on Tombs of the Kings archaeological site” was presented, showcasing innovative methods for documenting complex archaeological environments. This work reflects the ENGINEER Project’s dedication to advancing geoinformatics and archaeological research.
Congratulations to George Kafataris, an ENGINEER Project member, for presenting a poster on the same topic, highlighting cost-effective solutions for surveying underground spaces. Sincere thanks to Prof. Athos Agapiou and Prof. Dimitrios Skarlatos for their invaluable support.
The Low-Cost 3D (LC3D) workshop series, initiated by Prof. Frank Neitzel (Technical University Berlin) and Prof. Ralf Reulke (Humboldt-University, Berlin), focuses on affordable 3D sensor systems, photogrammetry algorithms, and processing tools. Over the years, the workshop has been hosted by leading institutions across Europe, with POLIMI and CUT members of the ENGINEER Project actively contributing to the scientific committee.
