ENGINEER Project Organizes International Session on AI and Remote Sensing in Archaeology
The ENGINEER project served as the organizer of Session 03: Innovating Archaeological Exploration: AI-based Approaches to Remote Sensing during a recent international scientific conference focused on advancements in archaeological research and digital heritage.
This high-level session was chaired by Argyro Argyrou (Cyprus University of Technology), Nejc Čož (ZRC SAZU), Steve Wernke (Vanderbilt University), Parker VanValkenburgh (Brown University), and James Zimmer-Dauphinee (Vanderbilt University), with contributions from distinguished experts including Axel G. Posluschny (Keltenwelt am Glauberg – Research Centre), Susan Curran (Discovery Programme), Žiga Kokalj (ZRC SAZU), and Athos Agapiou (Cyprus University of Technology, Deputy Director of the UNESCO Chair on Digital Cultural Heritage).
The session showcased cutting-edge developments in the application of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and remote sensing technologies for archaeological exploration. As session organizer, the ENGINEER project reaffirmed its leading role in fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation at the intersection of geoinformatics, cultural heritage, and artificial intelligence.
