Day 1 – ENGINEER Workshop 5: “Structural Modelling and Seismic Assessment for Heritage”

The first day of the ENGINEER Workshop 5 took place on Tuesday, 10th of June 2025, at the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) premises in Paphos. Coordinated by University College London (UCL), the day focused on key themes in heritage conservation through structural modelling. Sessions included a review paper discussion, a presentation on numerical finite element modelling, and an introduction to using testing and monitoring techniques for calibrating structural models.

Promote ENGINEER project at 44th EARSeL Symposium

PhD Candidate Kyriakos Michaelides participated in the 44th EARSeL Symposium, held from May 26th to 29th, 2025, in Prague, Czech Republic. EARSeL (European Association of Remote Sensing Laboratories) is a leading network that promotes the scientific development and application of remote sensing across Europe. During the event, he actively promoted the ENGINEER project, showcasing its objectives and preliminary outcomes to the international remote sensing community.

ENGINEER Project Supports Thesis on Automated Crack Detection at Tombs of the Kings

The ENGINEER project provided access to photographic material and datasets produced for the Tombs of the Kings site to support a student’s diploma thesis. The research focused on the automated detection of structural cracks using digital image processing techniques and MATLAB. Promote ENGINEER project at CIPA Summer School 2025

Dr. Dimitrios Skarlatos, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology at the Cyprus University of Technology, participated as a tutor in the 14th CIPA Summer School, held from May 20–25, 2025, at the historic Heiligenkreuz-Gutenbrunn Castle near Vienna. During the event, he promoted the ENGINEER project. The summer school offered intensive hands-on training in heritage documentation and risk assessment techniques, supported by institutions like ICOMOS, ISPRS, and the Time Machine Organisation, within the "3DBigDataSpace" project.
