Internal CUT meeting

A tele- meeting was organised earlier today between the CUT members to plan the activities of the forthcoming 1st annual ENGINEER meeting that will take place between 11th and 12th of Sep. 2023 in Limassol. An update of the progress of the ENGINEER project was made by the coordinator of the project, while a discussion was followed to key points raised during the first year of activities of the project.

Success in “Strategic Research Infrastructure” calls

ENGINEER team members have secured a “Strategic Research Infrastructure proposal”. The evaluation result for the proposal submitted under the SMALL-SCALE INFRASTRUCTURES call of the Research and Innovation Foundation was announced earlier today. Dr Agapiou, recipient of the prestigious ISDE Young Scientist Award

After careful consideration by the Awards Committee, Dr. Agapiou has been selected to receive the prestigious ISDE (International Society of Digital Earth) Young Scientist Award 2023 by the International Society for Digital Earth - Young Scientist Innovation Network. The Award recognizes a significant achievement and dedicated service by an individual in the field of Digital Earth and outstanding accomplishments of young individuals (< 45 years old).

ENGINEER @ the online “Webinar on the seismic response of underground structures”, part of the Underground4value – COST Action CA18110

The ENGINEER project was earlier today presented at the online “Webinar on the seismic response of underground structures” by Ass. Prof. Nicholas Kyriakides. The event was organized by the Underground4value programme (COST Action, CA18110). An overall presentation of the CA18110 Underground4value project was presented by Giuseppe Pace, Chair of CA18110. Invited talks were also given by the National Laboratory for Civil Engineering (LNEC), Portugal, the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), Greece and the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), Portugal.

ENGINEER @ Workshop on “Data Science and Applications” of the European University of Technology – EUt+

Within the frame of the next EUt+ week, the workshop on "Data Science and Applications" is organized. This workshop is a good opportunity to foster further the collaboration within the EUt+ Data Science Lab. Argyro Argyrou presented the overall methodology and approach of her work under the work entitled “A new role of low-altitude sensors for supporting archaeological research”.

ENGINEER @ 13th International Symposium on Digital Earth Earth intelligence to understand and protect our Living Planet

A joint work from the CUT team (Athos Agapiou, Vasiliki Lysandrou, Phaedon Kyriakidis, Stelios Hadjipetrou, Nicholas Kyrakides and Renos Votsis) was earlier today presented at the 13th International Symposium on Digital Earth Earth intelligence to understand and protect our Living Planet. The work was entitled as “European Ground Motion Service for built heritage: a case study from Cyprus”.

Evaluation Study on Excellent Science in the European Framework Programmes for Research and Innovation

ENGINEER project was part of the “Evaluation Study on Excellent Science in the European Framework Programmes for Research and Innovation". The study commissioned by Directorate-General for Research and Innovation (DG RTD) seeks to assess the relevance, effectiveness, coherence, efficiency and EU value-added of the Horizon Europe programmes.
